Ronald H. Rappaport is a founding director of Reynolds, Rappaport & Kaplan, LLC and has more than thirty years of experience in the areas of municipal law, civil litigation and real estate law. He was a partner at Friedman & Atherton in Boston before returning to his native Martha’s Vineyard in 1985 to start his own firm. Mr. Rappaport is town counsel for five of the six island towns (Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, and West Tisbury) and is counsel to the Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank Commission.
Mr. Rappaport has attained the highest rating established by Martindale-Hubbell’s Law Directory. This rating is only given to lawyers and law firms who are recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity. In addition, Mr. Rappaport was recognized by Boston Magazine as a Super Lawyer in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Community Involvement:
Mr. Rappaport has and continues to play a significant role in Martha’s Vineyard civic organizations. He represented Martha’s Vineyard on the governing board of the Woods Hole, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority from 1993 to 2000. He currently serves as a director for the Permanent Endowment Fund for Martha’s Vineyard, an umbrella organization that gives charitable grants to Vineyard causes. He is on the board of Vineyard Youth Tennis, which provides free tennis instruction to Island children. He is currently a Trustee for Martha's Vineyard Savings Bank and he served as a Director of Martha’s Vineyard National Bank from 1982 to 1995.
Personal:
The son of an Island doctor, Mr. Rappaport grew up in Oak Bluffs. He now makes his home in Chilmark with his wife, attorney Jane Kaplan. They have one grown daughter, Julia.
